Please could you provide the following information in relation to Instrumental Music Tuition.

Please provide, for this financial year and the each of the past five financial years in turn, the following:
• Budget allocation made for the service
• Total costs of operating the music tuition service
• Total fees received (i.e. gross revenue)
• Net revenue generated by the service,
• Total number of pupils supported by the service
• The basic (full price) fee for the service, any concessionary rates available and the criteria for the concessionary rates.
• The numbers of pupils paying the full fee and each concessionary rate available at the time.
• Please set out the number of pupils and costs of SQA provision separately.

Please also provide any forecast figures you have available for the coming year, it would be helpful if you could outline the methods used in preparing forecasts of capacity and costs.

If in each of the years above a surplus was generated, please say if this money was ringfenced, or incorporated into general revenue. Similarly, if a shortfall arose, please indicate from where supplementary funding was obtained.

From 13/14 to 17/18 -  £245.85.

 

Music Tuition will be provided free of charge where the parents/guardians
are in receipt of Employment Seekers Allowance or Income Based Job Seekers
Allowance.

 

Central Groups

From 13/14 to 17/18 -  £81.05.

 

Music Tuition will be provided free of charge where the parents/guardians
are in receipt of Employment Seekers Allowance or Income Based Job Seekers
Allowance.

15/16 & 16/17 - £250.00

Pupils with parents on Income Based Jobseekers Allowance and Employment
Support Allowance receive free tuition referred  to above as Free School
Meals pupils(FSM). No charge for Youth Music Initiative (YMI) funded
pupils. There are no other concessions.

Net Budget allocation for the service for 2018/19 - £523,448. Forecast
figures are based on budget requirement.

 

Question 10

Any surplus generated would not be ring-fenced as this would be used in
relation to the overall ECS end of year budget position.

 

Any shortfall would be offset from any surplus’ within ECS.

 

 

Please be advised of the following:

 

·         All information has been taken from extracts of data which was
held in SEEMIS as at 25/04/18.

·         Figures shown are numbers of tuitions (a pupil may have more
than one tuition and with differing charge codes) at the time of the
extract

·         Only tuitions with a status of 'Current' at the time of the
extract are included

·         Tuitions that stopped part way through the year are not counted

·         Charge Code 'SQA' includes courses. Free standing units not
classed as SQA free tuition as of August 2017.
