Multiple pregnancies - how care is delivered in each unit & data request
Dear Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust,
The national charity Twins Trust is undertaking a national benchmarking exercise and therefore are keen to understand the following.
Please confirm if current antenatal care for multiple pregnancies (in 2020 and going forward) is delivered in, each unit, by a "a core team of named specialist obstetricians, specialist midwives and sonographers, all of whom have experience and knowledge of managing twin and triplet pregnancies" in accordance with NICE guideline NG137.
Where possible, could I please request the names, telephone numbers(direct dial), and email address’ for the following positions in each unit;
Head of Midwifery
Specialist multiple pregnancy obstetricians
Specialist multiple pregnancy midwives
Specialist multiple pregnancy sonographers
Please may I also request the following data for each unit for the year 2017, 2018 and 2019:
- Number of Multiple Birth Pregnancies (e.g. twins, triplets, quads +)
- Number of Foetuses delivered from a Multiple Birth
- Multiple Birth Still Births (number of babies)
- Multiple Birth pregnancies resulting in an Emergency C-Sections
- Multiple Birth Neonatal Deaths (number of babies)
- Multiple Birth Neonatal Admissions (number of babies admitted to a neonatal unit for their care)
If the team are interested in being supported by our Maternity Engagement Quality Improvement Project (T-MEP) to improve care and reduce poor outcomes like stillbirths, neonatal deaths, neonatal admissions and emergency caesarean sections like this https://twinstrust.org/who-we-are/what-w... ?
Thank you for your time. If we can be of any help and support please do let us know
Yours faithfully,
Nikki Roberts
Head of Communications, Twins Trust
Dear Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's handling of my FOI request 'Multiple pregnancies - how care is delivered in each unit & data request'. This Freedom of Information request that is now very overdue.
I appreciate it's a particularly busy time at the moment, however, 90% of trusts have been able to respond to the Freedom of Information request.
Where trusts have responded, we have been able to help those that require it. We're keen to help and work with trusts to provide the best possible maternity care for our families.
If you could let us know when you think you'll be able to respond to our FOI request, that would be hugely helpful.
Yours faithfully,
Nikki Roberts
