How many deaths have been recorded with MSSA cited as the
reason or contributing factor?
The Northern Health and Social Care Trust (NHSCT) does not record this
information in a format which is readily accessible; in order to retrieve it an
extensive manual exercise would be required. As such, the Trust considers
that the cost of retrieving the information would be above the ‘Appropriate
Limit’, as defined by the Freedom of Information Act 2000 under Section
12(1), so it will not be possible to make this information available to you.

Why is MSSA not subject to control targets?
The decision that MSSA cases are no longer monitored is one which was
made by the Public Health Agency and applies across Northern Ireland.
