Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000

 

Further to your email dated 26^th October, in which you request the
disclosure of information under the provisions of the above Act, we are
now in a position to respond.

 

1. Since January 2012 on how many occasions have Lancashire Council used
Mother and baby units/placements? – 39 – We have based this on the actual
number of placements made to Family Centre/Mother and Baby Unit – This
includes the case where both the mother and child were placed, and two
lots of 2 siblings
2. How each preferred placement type determined? i.e. tier system etc?
Placement type is determined based of levels of need and risk
3. Does Lancashire have a preferred placement source for mother and baby
placements? Residential: spot purchase and Fostering:  Lancashire County
Council have a framework and providers are placed in tiers based on
quality and price. The average fee for a mother and baby fostering
placement for providers on the framework is £1,172/week.
4. What was the average length of each placement? – Based on the criteria
used for establishing the number of occasions in 1. above, the average
length of placement is 95 days
5. What was the average weekly cost of each placement? £2,008
6. What percentage of mother/father's were under 18? –based on the above
criteria, the percentage where mother and/or father were under 18 is 5%
