May 2021.

Dear Mr Fernandez

I write further to your request below for information. We have now
considered your request and I have set out our response below.

Generally speaking, the information you are seeking is either not held by
Sport England or exempt from disclosure under Section 21 of the Freedom of
information Act 2000 on the grounds that it is reasonably accessible to
you via other means. The information that we do hold is already available
on Sport England’s website and we are therefore not obliged to provide it
to you. Having said that, we have  provided the information below in order
to assist you.

Please provide information for at least the top ten sports in England in
terms of participation since 2010.
Sport England measures participation in sport and physical activity. The
Active Lives survey has been used since November 2015 for this purpose.
Prior to November 2015, Sport England used the Active People survey to
measure participation. This is a separate survey to Active Lives with
different methodologies, and therefore the survey results are not
comparable between the two surveys. For participation data prior to
November 2015, please visit our Active People site at:
[1]https://activepeople.sportengland.org/

The Active Lives Online Tool can be used to explore participation data
from November 2015 onwards. The link below shows some of the most popular
activities undertaken by Adults, and the change over time, for those
taking part at least twice in the last 28 days (our standard measure of
participation):

[2]https://activelives.sportengland.org/Res...

We have run examples on this link including walking for leisure, walking
for travel, cycling for leisure & sport, cycling for travel, team sports,
fitness activities, etc. Within this online tool, you can also view less
frequent activity participation (any in the last year), and data for
children & young people too.

If its possible I would also like to have data regarding participation
numbers on rowing, basketball and archery.

The link below to the same online Tool, shows the participation for these
activities (rowing, rowing on water, rowing machine, basketball,
wheelchair basketball and archery) at the same frequency, at least twice
in the last 28 days:
