Dear Eddie Dean
Our ref: FOI-3087-2223/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 19
February 2023 asking for information about an asbestos incident at
Moorgate Station.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the
Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy. I
can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
(1) Can you provide an approximate time for this incident?
The incident occurred about 07:20 on 4 March 2017.
(2) Was this incident in a public area accessible by the public?
The location of the incident was in a public area but this part of the
station was closed for refurbishment so it was not accessible by the
public at the time of the incident.
(3) Which part of the station did this occur (if known)
The incident occurred on staircase 2/601, which leads to the Westbound
Metropolitan and Circle line platforms 2 and 3.
TfL have a framework consultancy company who are on call in the event of
an incident such as this. They were contacted immediately following the
incident and arrived on site at 08:28 on the 4^th March to oversee the
clean up and to carry out air testing. The airborne fibre monitoring
certificate of analysis is attached, which shows fibre levels were below
applicable limits.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached
information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
