Money paid for public health media adverts

Michelle14 made this Freedom of Information request to Cabinet Office

This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was refused by Cabinet Office.

Dear Cabinet Office,

I would like to know answers to the following questions:

1. Does the government normally pay for public health announcements and adverts that appear in newspapers, on TV and on social media?
2. Has the government been paying media companies for the recent Covid-19 information and social distancing messages that re in newspapers, playing on TV, and appearing in social media? If the answer is yes, can you please confirm:
A) roughly how much government has spent so far on these media adverts/messages about covid-19 and social distancing
B) which companies have been paid for this up to now. I do not wish to know exact amounts that have gone to companies, only which companies have either received payments, or have entered into contracts where they will receive payment from government for the display of these media messages relating to covid-19.

Yours faithfully,
Michelle
