Moderation of marks in the Physics Department
Dear University College London,
I am requesting a spreadsheet of the maximum moderation percentages applicable to a raw mark in the physics exams at your university (for the academic year 2020/21) and if possible the future assessment plan for the academic year 2021/22.
Yours faithfully,
Samuel Filipe Azevedo Magalhães

Dear Samuel
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request of 29^th July 2021.
We have completed the compilation of information in response to your
request for information about the maximum moderation percentages
applicable to a raw mark in the Physics exams at UCL for the 2020/21
academic year, and if possible the future assessment plan for the 2021/22
academic year.
We can confirm that we do hold some information of the description
specified in your request and this information is provided below.
Our Response:
There was no module-level moderation of marks (such as “re-scaling” or
exclusion of questions) within modules delivered by UCL’s Department of
Physics and Astronomy in the 2020/21 academic year. All actual/raw module
mark averages and distributions were approved by the Physics and Astronomy
exam board as they were found to be in line with those in previous years.
Therefore, the maximum moderation percentages applicable to a raw mark in
the physics exams are zero for all Physics and Astronomy modules.
There is no approved assessment plan for the 2021/22 academic year which
is pending central college guidance.
