Dear Avon and Somerset Constabulary,

Firstly, please could you provide me with details of all missing persons who have been recorded as missing within the Avon and Somerset area and have not as yet been found from 1946 to date.

I would be grateful if you could please provide me with the following breakdown of information:
• Date reported missing
• Name, age, sex and ethnicity of the missing person
• Circumstances surround their disappearance (if any)

Secondly, I would be grateful if you could please provide me with details of all undetected homicides in the Avon and Somerset district from 1946 to date.

I would be grateful if you could provide me with the following breakdown of information:
• Date
• Name, age, sex and ethnicity of the victim
• Location
• Nature of offence
• Persons prosecuted (if any)
• Whether or not there is an active investigation

I write in connection with your request for information dated 18^th

Your request for information has been considered and the majority of the
information is provided in the two attachments.  With regards to the
missing individuals, their names have not been provided.  Information that
constitutes personal information is exempt from disclosure. The exemption
applicable to this is Section 40(2), third party personal information.
This is an Absolute exemption so therefore there is no requirement to
conduct a harm or public interest test. Any information is exempt from
disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act if it relates to or is
supplied by another individual and disclosure of that information would
contravene any of the principles of the 1998 Data Protection Act, in this
particular case, disclosure of this information would contravene
Principles 1 and 2 of the Act, whereby personal data shall be processed
fairly and lawfully and only obtained for one or more specified purpose or
purposes.

 

Please note:

·         The missing person details are accurate as of the date the
search was conducted.  Investigations into missing individuals are always
active.

·         The ethnicity of the individual is not always recorded. Where
the information is not available the cell has been left blank.

·         Investigations into murder never cease. All investigations are
continually reviewed against changes in procedure and forensic
capabilities.
