Missed bin collections data
Dear Cherwell District Council,
Under the Freedom Of Information Act I would like to request the following data:
- The number of missed bin collections in 2018, 2019 and 2020
- How many extra bin lorries had to be sent out to pick up bins missed during their routine collections in 2018, 2019, 2020
- The additional costs to the council resulting from missed bin collections in 2018, 2019 and 2020
- The average weekly and annual costs to the council of collecting domestic waste, as in the regular landfill waste, food waste and recycling created by homes which is collected by the council.

Thank you for your request of 16 August in which you asked for information
about missed bins.
Your request is being considered and Cherwell District Council will
respond within 20 working days in compliance with the Freedom of

Dear Ms Smithson
Thank you for your request of 16 August 2020, in which you asked for
information relating to missed bin collections. Please find the Council’s
response below, in bold.
- The number of missed bin collections in 2018, 2019 and 2020
2018 - 5864
2019 - 4755
2020 to date - 3195
- How many extra bin lorries had to be sent out to pick up bins missed
during their routine collections in 2018, 2019, 2020
The Council does not send out additional vehicles to collect missed bins
they are collected as part of other collection rounds.
- The additional costs to the council resulting from missed bin
collections in 2018, 2019 and 2020
The Council does not incur additional cost.
- The average weekly and annual costs to the council of collecting
domestic waste, as in the regular landfill waste, food waste and recycling
created by homes which is collected by the council.
The Council does not hold information for collection costs alone, as the
budget for waste and recycling is an all-encompassing budget which is
£3,604,035, however the cost per property for the disposal and collection
of waste is £51.97.
