Dear Bolsover District Council,
Under the Freedom Of Information Act I would like to request the following data:
- The number of missed bin collections in 2018, 2019 and 2020
- How many extra bin lorries had to be sent out to pick up bins missed during their routine collections in 2018, 2019, 2020
- The additional costs to the council resulting from missed bin collections in 2018, 2019 and 2020
- The average weekly and annual costs to the council of collecting domestic waste, as in the regular landfill waste, food waste and recycling created by homes which is collected by the council.

Thank you for your email of 17th August 2020 requesting information about
missed bin collection data for 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Your request is being considered under the Freedom of Information Act
2000. We aim to answer your request within 20 working days from the date
we received it, as prescribed under the Act.
However due to the current situation arising from the COVID-19 outbreak,
the Council’s main priority is providing essential services and
safeguarding the wellbeing of our residents and staff. We will do our best
to respond to your request within the statutory 20 day timescale.
Unfortunately we may be unable to respond to some requests within the
guidelines, and the Council would like to thank you for your patience.
For your information, the Act gives you the right to be told whether we
hold the information (subject to absolute exemptions). The Act also
defines a number of exemptions which may prevent release of the
information you have requested. You will be informed if this is the case,
together with your rights of appeal.
If the information you request contains reference to a third party then
they may be consulted prior to a decision being taken on whether or not to
release the information to you. You will be informed if we need more time
to do this.

- How many extra bin lorries had to be sent out to pick up bins missed
during their routine collections in 2018, 2019, 2020 –
For all years specified - One vehicle approximately ½ day per week for
Black (Residual) & Green (Garden & Organic). Burgundy (Recycling) misses
are picked up under the recycling contract with no extra resource being
used from the Council.
- The additional costs to the council resulting from missed bin
collections in 2018, 2019 and 2020
No additional cost for any recycling bin misses, contained within the
contract.
Black & Green additional cost would be approximately £19,500 per year.
- The average weekly and annual costs to the council of collecting
domestic waste, as in the regular landfill waste, food waste and recycling
created by homes which is collected by the council.
Average Annual cost - £1,070,898
Average weekly cost - £20,594
