Under the Freedom Of Information Act I would like to request the following data:

- The number of missed bin collections in 2018, 2019 and 2020

- How many extra bin lorries had to be sent out to pick up bins missed during their routine collections in 2018, 2019, 2020

- The additional costs to the council resulting from missed bin collections in 2018, 2019 and 2020

- The average weekly and annual costs to the council of collecting domestic waste, as in the regular landfill waste, food waste and recycling created by homes which is collected by the council.

I have detailed below your request and the Council’s response.

- The number of missed bin collections in 2018, 2019 and 2020

 

2018 – 6387 reports

2019 – 6280 reports

2020 – 3580 reports as of 21/08/20

 

Please note this is reports only and not verified collections

 

- How many extra bin lorries had to be sent out to pick up bins missed
during their routine collections in 2018, 2019, 2020

The Council has 2 smaller vehicles as part of its fleet to carry out a
variety of tasks which include collecting missed collections. This is not
their only function.

 

- The additional costs to the council resulting from missed bin
collections in 2018, 2019 and 2020

We do not have directly attributed costs for missed collections as
identified above.

 

- The average weekly and annual costs to the council of collecting
domestic waste, as in the regular landfill waste, food waste and recycling
created by homes which is collected by the council.

 

Net cost of refuse and recycling collections is budgeted at £75,261 per
week, or £3.913m per annum
