MIS Supplier summary for autumn 2020 and Spring 2021
Dear Department for Education,
I would like to see a breakdown of which Software is used by schools to return the school census to the department (i.e. their MIS Supplier).
Please could you provide the following information in an excel spreadsheet containing the following fields:
1. Local authority Number
2. Local authority Name
3. School Unique Reference Number (URN)
4. School name
5. Establishment Type (ie. community School, nursery, Voluntary aided school etc)
6. Establishment phase (i.e. primary, secondary)
7. MIS Software Used
8. Numbers of pupils on roll
NB some previous responses to similar queries by other requesters have excluded the school URN. If it is possible it would be preferable to include the URN, as this helps greatly when matching the census information with other DfE data releases.
Please provide this information from the October 2020 school census.
Thank you in advance for your assistance
Yours faithfully,
Rachel Moffat

I have dealt with your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
An Excel spreadsheet containing the information from the autumn 2020
school census is enclosed. It contains the local authority number, local
authority name, establishment (school) number, school name, establishment
type, establishment phase, software supplier code and the number of pupils
in each school. It is not possible to provide the software supplier name
as this is information is not held. However, the included software
supplier code contains the software supplier name in the majority of
cases.
If you have any queries about this letter, please contact me. Please
remember to quote the reference number above in any future communications.
If you are unhappy with the way your request has been handled, you should
make a complaint to the Department by writing to me within two calendar
months of the date of this letter. Your complaint will be considered by
an independent review panel, who were not involved in the original
consideration of your request.
If you are not content with the outcome of your complaint to the
Department, you may then contact the Information Commissioner’s Office.
