MIS Software statistics 2015

The request was successful.

Dear Department for Education,

I'm in the process of researching a study into the current state of
the MIS software market in England, in particular how schools have
used MIS systems and how often they have changed supplier, in the
last year.

Please provide an excel spreadsheet containing the school name, LA
number, establishment number, software supplier name, and the
number of pupils the supplier ID for the last 3 schools census
returns (Jan 2015, May 2015 and October 2015) that are held by
the department.

I'm reliably informed that this information is held within the
census return. Providing this information will prevent me having to
make an FOI request to every single school and local authority in
England for the information, thus cutting the cost raised on those
departments and institutions to provide it.

Thank you in advance for your help - it is much appreciated.

Yours faithfully,

Kristina Forster

Dear Kristina

Thank you for your request for information, which was received on 8th October 2015. You requested an ‘Excel spreadsheet containing the following fields: Local Authority Number, School Number, School Name, MIS Software used and Number of pupils on roll.

I have dealt with your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

An Excel spreadsheet containing the information requested is enclosed. The spreadsheet contains the local authority number, establishment number, school name, software supplier code and the number of pupils in each school. It is not possible to provide the software supplier name as this is information is not held. However, the included software supplier code contains the software supplier name in the majority of cases.
I have provided data from the last three school census collections, summer 2015, spring 2015 and autumn 2014. I am unable to give you autumn 2015 data as we have not yet finished that collection.
