Military Provost Guard Service and Get You Home (Travel)

The request was refused by Ministry of Defence.

Dear Ministry of Defence,

With effect from the 1 August 2017 Get You Home (Travel) for Military Provost Guard Force (MPGS) personnel is to cease.

What I would like to know is the following.

In relation to the MPGS

1) In order to gain or keep a job are MPGS soldiers expected to demonstrate mobility and serve more than 30 miles from their JPA stated home address?

2) In order to gain a promotion are MPGS soldiers expected to demonstrate mobility and move sites? By this I mean are they offered a list of sites where there is a vacancy for promotion?

3) How many MPGS soldiers serve more than 30 miles from their JPA stated home address?

4) How many MPGS soldiers serve more than 60 miles from their JPA stated home address?

In relation to GYH (T)

1) Who brought it to the attention of Remuneration Allowances Policy that JSP 752 is insufficiently clear on the status of Military Provost Guard Service personnel and their eligibility to claim GYH (T)?

2) Until the 1 August 2017 how long have MPGS soldiers been eligible to claim GYH (T)?

3) How many consultation meetings were conducted in order to determine the ineligibility of the MPGS soldiers’ GYH (T) claims?

4) How many MPGS soldiers are affected by the decision to stop their GYH (T) claims?

5) How much money per annum will the Ministry of Defence save by stopping MPGS soldiers’ GYH (T) claims?

Yours faithfully,

A.S. Campbell
