Metrolink Signal Incidents

James Boden made this Freedom of Information request to Transport for Greater Manchester Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

The request was successful.

Dear Transport for Greater Manchester,
I would like to request information regarding the number of Signal passed at stop incidents on the Metrolink network.
Please can you supply the number of instances where signals were passed at stop, for each month, going back the last 3 years. Please only supply the number of instances where a signal has been passed at stop due to driver error.

Can you please provide the definitions of how you categorise SPAS incidents and the number of each category for each year.

Where possible can you please provide information regarding the number of SPAS incidents in areas where Block signals (Green and red) have been replaced by the street style signals (White bulbs). As an example on the Bury line, 10 incidents in 2017 with old style signals vs 10 incidents in 2022 with the new style.

Yours faithfully,

James Boden
