Methods of waste collection
1. I am submitting a NEW FoI requested. This request has NOT been answered. Please record this request, and allocate a NEW unique reference number to it. Please notify me of the reference number as soon as it is generated.
2. I request that the information is provided on an Excel workbook, provided both as an attachment to a reply to this message and sent on a CD by post to my home address which is shown at the top of this message
3. This Excel workbook to include a worksheet named “Main” to contain the following information:
COLUMN A
A list of EVERY thoroughfare in Brighton and Hove. Where a thoroughfare has refuse collected by more than one collection round, then additional lines are to be included for each collection round
COLUMN B
The name, or reference, for the collection round in this street
COLUMN C
The number of HOUSEHOLD communal bins collected in this street, by this round in this street
COLUMN D
The number of households with “Black Bag” collection, by this round in this street
COLUMN E
The number of households with Wheelie Bin collection, by this round in this street
COLUMN F
The number of households with binvelope collection, by this round in this street
COLUMN G
The number of households with some other form of collection, by this round in this street, as described in column J
COLUMN H
The number of COMMERCIAL communal bins collected, by this round in this street
COLUMN I
The number of commercial properties where refuse in collected separately, by this round in this street
COLUMN J
An explanation of the collection method, applying to collections recorded in column G

My understand that the under the terms of the FoI act, I am entitled to receive a response as soon as practically possible, and to be provided with an explanation if it would be any longer than 20 working days.

We are not able to provide the information in the format you require as this would involve a large amount of work to make the amendments you require. We have attached a small sample of the data provided by our routing software and this is defined as follows:
Column A - Software ID No
Column B - Unique Property Reference No
Columns E – V - Address Data (columns blanked out for data protection purposes)
Column BB - Allocated Round
The bin/containment type is not listed within the software.
There are approximately 126,000 properties in Brighton & Hove
The communal refuse and recycling area covers approximately 37,000 properties. The communal recycling is currently being rolled out and will be completed by the end of June.
The number of households where we collect sacks is not listed but this type of collection is less than 5% across the city
We do not have the number of households that we collect wheelie bins from
Binvelopes are being phased out and is less than 2% of the households
We have no commercial collections in Brighton & Hove.
