I write to you today to ask for any information you may hold on the following points. Please include, if possible, any policies relating to or directly impacting on the questions.

1) What, if any, services do you provide to staff to promote physical health and wellbeing?

2) What, if any, services do you provide to staff to promote mental health and wellbeing?

3) What, if any, services do you provide to staff in the form of training covering the following:
3a) Where or how they can access services for any mental or physical health concerns.
3b) What services or protocols, for example; TRiM or Mental Health First Aid Courses, does your trust currently use in relation to Mental Health ?

4) What, if any, are your plans over the next financial year to improve the physical health and wellbeing of staff?

Dear Curtis,
 
In response to your Freedom of Information request please find the
following information to your questions below:
 
1) What, if any, services do you provide to staff to promote physical
health and wellbeing?
The trust has a dedicated health and wellbeing section on the staff
intranet called ‘Invest in Yourself’ which has lots of various information
regarding healthy eating, staff stories, the NHS Games, Park Runs, cycle
to work scheme and it includes walking routes that staff can go on during
their breaks near their base/office/area of work. It also signposts to the
NHS health promotion site ‘One You’ in which staff can assess their own
current health needs. The trust has also used and encouraged staff to get
involved with team physical and fitness challenges such as Virgin Global
Challenge and Kaido through their health and wellbeing platform.
Additionally the trust’s Occupational Health Service also provide access
to iWILL which is a health promotion resource.
 
2) What, if any, services do you provide to staff to promote mental health
and wellbeing?
As above the trust have a dedicated health and wellbeing section on the
staff intranet called ‘Invest in Yourself’ that has information on mental
resilience including podcasts and where to go for advice. This includes
Occupational Health guidance and contacts for counselling provisions,
Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) assessors, Peer Supporters, Blue Light
Champions, and self-assessment resilience testing. The trust also provides
courses for managers on leading healthy workplace training to spot signs
of mental ill health in their teams.  
 
3) What, if any, services do you provide to staff in the form of training
covering the following:
     3a) Where or how they can access services for any mental or physical
health concerns.
Occupational Health Guidance on counselling provisions, leading healthy
workplace training, Invest In Yourself microsite, Peer Support Network,
Blue Light Champions, and TRiM assessment.
 
     3b) What services or protocols, for example; TRiM or Mental Health
First Aid Courses, does your trust currently use in relation to Mental
Health?
TRiM assessors, Peer Support Network and Blue Light Champions.
 
4) What, if any, are your plans over the next financial year to improve
the physical health and wellbeing of staff?
Encourage staff to partake in Kaido (investment made until December 2019).
 
5) What, if any, are your plans over the next financial year to improve
the mental health and wellbeing of staff?
The workforce objective is to scope and implement a mental health
wraparound offering encompassing preventive measures, training, promotion
and accessibility. Each trust directorate currently has dedicated health
and wellbeing plans specifically for their teams and these will evolve and
change periodically following feedback from staff as to what extra support
they would like. For example, for Corporate staff this could be attending
walking and talking meetings to help increase physical activity.
 
6) Any other information you may have or hold relating to the policies and
procedures relating to the improvement and supporting of a staff members
physical and mental health wellbeing.
The trust has various policies to support staff, these include:

- Sickness Absence Policy
- Health and Wellbeing Strategy
- Flexible Working Policy
- Stress Policy
- Dignity at Work Policy
- Health and Safety risk assessments
- Drug and Alcohol Policy
- Disciplinary Policy
- Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons Policy and Procedure.
