Mental health services available to students
In 2016-2017, how many students accessed mental welfare counselling services and how long did it take for them to access these services after raising an issue? Are there any reports or statistics that indicate how effective the counselling services have been for students struggling with their mental health?
Yours faithfully,
Alisa Wylie

Response
262 students were seen by the GSA Counselling Service in 2016/17. The
average waiting time from referral to appointment was less than one week.
There are no clinical outcome reports available. However in 2016/17 29% of
students that used the service responded to a request for feedback on
their experience. 97% would recommend the service to a friend, 86% felt
that the work they had undertaken with the service had helped them to do
better with their studies, 94% felt that the work had helped them in their
life as a whole.
