Mental Capacity
Dear North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust,
I am writing to you to request information relating to policies and procedures which relate to compliance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and adhering to its codes of practice.
Do you have any information on the following:
a) Policies and procedures relating to supporting patients who lack mental capacity
b) evidence of staff training and awareness of mental capacity
c) clinical guidelines that relate to managing/supporting patients who lack mental capacity.

b. Evidence of staff training and awareness of mental capacity -
Restrictive Intervention training should be completed by Paramedic
Emergency Staff, so staff from Urgent Care Service clinical grade and
above. There is also Mental Capacity Training available for frontline
members of staff via our virtual mandatory training site.
c. Clinical guidelines that relate to managing/supporting patients who
lack mental capacity. – see attached
