Membership of BPA (British Parking Association)

The request was successful.

Dear Buckinghamshire County Council,

I have noted that in their latest list of members the BPA (British Parking Association) lists yourselves:
https://www.britishparking.co.uk/BPA-Mem...

The BPA is not a highly regarded organisation by many motorists and seen as ineffective in regulating the private parking operators who make up the bulk of its membership; MPs in the House of Commons have also echoed these concerns.

Therefore, can you please provide the following information about your membership:
- The date you first become a member.
- The reason for becoming the member.
- How it benefits your residents by being a member.
- Benefits received by being a member of the BPA.
- The annual costs for being a member of the BPA.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Jonathan WIlliams

Time to Change is a growing movement of people changing how we all think
and act about mental health problems..

Although attitudes to mental health are changing for the better, too many
people are still made to feel ashamed or isolated because they have a
mental health problem.

In Buckinghamshire, we’re working with local communities, workplaces and
schools to help end negative attitudes and behaviours towards people
experiencing mental health problems.

Time to Talk Day on 7th February aims to get more people talking openly
about mental health.

Dear Mr Williams

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 - INFORMATION REQUEST

RFI-3508

Thank you for contacting Buckinghamshire County Council.

Your request for information regarding British Parking Association
membership has now been considered and our response is as follows:

The British Parking Association work to promote, represent and influence
the parking profession. They have the support of, and have been praised
by, MPs in their efforts to advise on new regulations and changes to
current legislation. With their safer parking campaigns and parking code
of practice they aim to assist both the industry and improve parking for
the public.

With this membership we have free or discounted training, saving money and
improving our service. As with any professional body, it is the input of
active members that drives and leads them to improve. These are some of
the reasons we believe membership is worthwhile, and although we are aware
of some differences between private parking companies and council run
parking this is being raised at government level to agree one single code
of conduct between the private and public parking.

The Annual cost for Buckinghamshire’s membership is £897 + VAT.

If you have any further questions then please do not hesitate to get in
touch.

If you have a complaint about the handling of your request then please use
the Council’s complaints procedure in the first instance by writing to:

FOI Monitoring Officer

Buckinghamshire County Council

County Hall

Or via email: [1][Buckinghamshire County Council request email]
