Mel Strode Chair of Commons Select Committee
Dear Her Majesty's Treasury,
Please can you provide more information on why Mel Stride was selected as chair of Commons Select Committee when he had only recently being sacked form his post as Treasury minister.
Surely protocol dictates that the chair of a committee cannot be a person that had only recently held a position in the ministry that they are now supposed to scrutinise. There would be a conflict of interest as the chair is the one that dictates the narrative for the committee.
Mel Stride advised the TSC would not look at the Loan charge please can you provide copies of minutes when this was confirmed.
In addition the Treasury advised mel was the only candidate please can you confirm why the treasury came to this conclusion knowing that he only recently left his position as Treasury minister, and why the Treasury did not accept other candidates wen we know at least three requested the position
Yours faithfully,
Damian Cattigan

Dear FOI Requests,
Please can you provide copies of minutes where the
Treasury Select Committee decided not to investigate
The loan charge.
Mel Stride advised to the house and media that the loan charge would not be investigated by Treasury select committee as if was deemed no interest by the TSC and that the TSC had greater priorities
Yours sincerely,
Damian Cattigan
