Mel Stride BBC Politics Live 10 September 2019

We're waiting for Damian Cattigan to read recent responses and update the status.

Damian Cattigan

Dear Her Majesty's Treasury,

On the 10th September 2019 Mel Stride advised to the panel on Politics Live that HMRC and HMR are chasing Employers of those caught up in Loan charge for 85% of the outstanding Tax.

That was never the case as Mel knew that through his legislation that HMRC and HMT was not chasing scheme promoters (employers) if evidence can be provided then surely those affected by this retrospective legislation the amounts deemed owed by retro tax should be only 15%.

of course mel did advise Loan charge is not retrospective so law was given royal ascent in 2017 why is it going after amounts in years pre 2017,

I have included a copy of the BBC politics show for record

Damian Cattigan

Dear FOI Requests,

Thank you for your update .

However the actual question was factual evidence by Mel Stride that employers would be liable for 85% of loan charge.

So please can you provide evidence this is the case as there seems to be some misrepresentation of information by the minister.

To date no employer ( promoter) has being chased by Treasury and hmrc so where did Mel Stride get that Pearce from.

Yours sincerely,

Damian Cattigan

Damian Cattigan

Dear FOI Requests,

Please can you follow up on FOI request,

As per original request Mel Stride was on Politics Live show September 2019 and spoke of points of Loan Charge.

The request is a request for evidence to support these facts that Mel discussed on the show such as

a) Mel Advised that there have being arrests of promoters of DR schemes please can this be verified independently
b) Mel advised that HMRC would Pursue Employers for 75 of Charge if this can be evidenced please

Sadly I believe both cannot be supported and should be retracted by the minister

Yours sincerely,

Damian Cattigan
