Medicine query

The request was partially successful.

Dear University of Manchester,
I have just finished my IGCSEs and is planning to carry on my A-levels with Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths and potentially further maths. Where I would like to apply for medicine in the near future and I would like to ask the following,

1. Is work experience important? Is it advantageous or compulsory for applicants who are applying for medicine? (It's very difficult for me to get any work experience because I don't speak the local language and international hospital's don't accept students for work experience.) So is doing lots of charity work and having lots of extracurricular activities sufficient?
2.Are applicants at an advantage during the application process if they do the Duke of Edinburgh international award and MUN (Model United Nations)?
3. What makes a good applicant and what makes applicants stand out?
4. What are the weighting for UKCAT, IGCSEs/GCSEs, A levels and personal statement in the application process?
5. Does possessing a British Passport make me a local students or an international student during the application process?

Yours faithfully,

In Kieu
