Dear [Name Removed] Blandamer

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated 12
November 2024

For ease of reference, I have reproduced your questions below and set out
our corresponding responses.

I Request the Following for medicine (Not foundation year)

For 2019-2023 please see attached.

For 2024 please see below.

Please note that we do not hold any earlier data.

1) Lowest UCAT score which was invited to an interview and given an offer.
From years 2016 to present.

 A100 = 1970

2) How long do you have to live in wales to apply for Welsh student
finance

We assume from the question that you mean qualifying for undergraduate
Student Finance Wales (SFW) funding, meaning specifically tuition fee
funding and funding for living costs. This is the funding system for the
first 4 years of Medicine for Welsh domiciled students. In this case,
there is no specific time frame for having lived in Wales.

To qualify for funding from any UK Student Finance body a student would
need to evidence all of the following:

·       settled status in the UK

·       been living in the UK and Islands for 3 years before the first day
of the first year of the course (this is considered to be the 1^st Sept if
the student is beginning a course in Sept/Oct)

The funding body they can apply to is determined by where they have been
living/ordinarily resident in the UK prior to the first day of the first
year of the course (1^st Sept). If a student was ordinarily resident in
Wales before the start of their course then they would apply to SFW for
funding. SFW would have to satisfy that the student met the conditions
above but all of the 3 year residency would not have to be in Wales. They
would however need to show that they were ordinarily resident in Wales not
for the purpose of education. If a student moved to Wales for the sole
purpose of education (eg coming to University) they would not qualify for
funding under SFW and would be directed to apply for funding from the
country that they lived in prior to moving to Wales for education.

Eligibility is normally determined as of the first day of the first
academic year of the course (1^st Sept) and would not change during the
length of the course; so a student could not accrue living in the UK for 3
years while also studying.

There are exceptions to the statutory regulations above, such as students
who are granted refugee status or humanitarian protection, students who
are family members of migrant workers. In addition, there are exceptions
where some students may be able to access tuition fee funding only if they
qualify under the EU Settlement Scheme.

All of the above would be assessed by Student Finance Wales (and is
available [1]here) and regulations are laid out by the Welsh Government.

3) From 2016 to present the lowest a level results / score that was
offered a place.

 We do not hold A Level information.

4) Amount of applicants which applied for MBcHB Medicine course from 2016
to present. Do please provide an answer

 A100 = 4036

5) How many offers was made from 2016 to present for medicine course

 A100 = 716

6) What was the highest UCAT score invited to interview from 2016 to
present

 A100 = 3370

7) How many people got a offer after successfully completing a interview
and also how many people didn’t get a offer after completing the interview
from 2016 to present

A100 = 716 offer, 443 rejected.
