1. For the last three years, how many international students were shortlisted for interviews and how many offers were given?

2. For the last three years , what was the interview cutoff score required out to get an offer?

3. How many international students will you be shortlisting this year for interview and how many offers will you be giving ( Even an approximate/estimated number will do)?

Yours faithfully,

Freedom of Information, University of York

Dear  Sarthak Jain
Thank you for your request for information from the University of York.
Please see our response below.

I would like some information regarding past statistics on international
applicants (non EU) applying for A100 medicine:

1.       For the last three years, how many international students were
shortlisted for interviews and how many offers were given?

2018 Entry – International applicants only: 53 Interviewed, 37 Offered.

2017 Entry – International applicants only: 34 Interviewed, 25 Offered.

2016 Entry – International applicants only: 57 Interviewed, 27 Offered.

2.       For the last three years, what was the interview cut-off score
required out to get an offer?

For 2018 entry, the lowest interview score receiving an offer was 55.58.
This includes additional offers made as a response to additional
Government allocations post interview.

For 2017 entry, the lowest interview score receiving an offer was 59.58.

For 2016 entry, the lowest interview score receiving an offer was 64.

All interview scores are assessed within the context of the applicant
cohort each year; HYMS does not operate a specific cut point and decisions
are made in line with the number of places available. HYMS does not
guarantee offers above a specific score, as they do not know the context
until all interviews have been completed and assessed.

3.       How many international students will you be shortlisting this
year for  interview and how many offers will you be giving ( Even an
approximate/estimated number will do)?

Information not held. HYMS does not have a specific target for the number
of international interviewees, or offers, at the current time. The cut for
interview is determined on the basis of the cohort quality and the overall
number of interview slots available.

A target for offers may be decided at a later stage in the process
depending on the quality of the candidates and the number of places
available.

Yours sincerely,
Graham Hughes
