Dear King’s College London,

Under the freedom of information act I would like to request the following information for the 5 year medicine programme A100

1.Can I get a list of criteria ( the exact and not generic) that the interviewers looked at during the interview to determine a candidates suitability for 2014 entry .

2. How was and will the interview scored (2014 and 2013 entry) ? Was it a score out of 10 by each interviewer or anything along those lines?

3.I would also like any scoring or grading system used or will be used to assess interview performance and if a form or such is provided to interviewers to record performance is available I would also kindly request this.

4.If a scoring system was in place what was the score of applicants who were successful in obtaining a place ( I understand you will not have this for 2014 entry just yet so this is specifically for 2013 entry.

5.If you can I also get the answers for question 3 and 4
specifically for graduates ( from any field ; who holds a degree ) applied to the 5 year programme who were successful in obtaining an offer to read medicine.

With respect to all the questions please try and provide
information for 2013 and 2014 entry where possible. If data is not available for 2014 please provide the relevant data of applicants ( all; question 5 being the exception) who were successful for 2013 entry.

Please note if my request is not deemed reasonable under the terms of the freedom of information act I would like the answers for 1-4 at the very least.

I would be most grateful if you could provide the answers to my query as soon as you can or at the very latest within the 20 days according to the terms of freedom of information act.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Ms Sharma

Dear Crampton, Sarah,

Thank you for your response. in the response to my query point 5. If you can I also get the answers for question 3 and 4
specifically for graduates ( from any field ; who holds a degree ) applied to the 5 year
programme who were successful in obtaining an offer to read medicine.

your response states that
'The College does not keep an electronic format of which medical applicants already hold a degree. Therefore to answer this question would require us to manually check each medical paper application received for the years requested Even give a very
conservative estimate of 15 minutes per file this request would easily breach the
‘appropriate limit’.

I would like to further clairify this because as per my understanding goes, the univeristy has to submit the highest qualifiaction on entry to the relevant goverment department and or the apporpriate council. THis information is usually sent via electronic transmission so i fail to understand the reasoning that the university doesnt hold thid information and needs to check each application who were successful in their interviews and started studying medicine at the prestigious university. I cant remember the name of the govenment deparment and i am sorry for that but i am very sure that this information is collated by the univeristy and provided to the goverment along with other data. I might be wrong if so could you kindly clarify what data of the applicant is submitted to the goverment.

Secondly, I would like to further ask how does the college ensure that every interview is of the same standard .I.E. there are many clinicians and academic who interivew ; therefore how does the college ensure that the same satandard of interview is provided to each interiveiwee.
Are all the interviewers trained in interviewing candidates and if not what steps are taken to ensure that the candidate interviewed by such interviewers are treated equally along with interviewers who are interviewed by interviewers who are trained in interviewing. Is the fact that there are 2 people interviewing the only safe guard for this query. If so i would like to further requests the success rate ofinterviewee who have been interviewed by 1. people trained in interviewing and 2. not trained in interviewing. If I need to submit a new request kindly let me know as soon as possible and also can you please let me know what can you answer wihout making a new request.

Yours sincerely,

Ms Sharma

Dear Crampton, Sarah,

Dear kcl - legal-compliance,
How much longer do we have to wait for your response ? Has it not been 20 working days since 14th January 2014 ?

Yours sincerely,

Ms Sharma

This delay seems to be premeditated and casts severe doubt regarding the transparency of the admission process.

It's sad to note that such a prestigious university doesn't even bother to request for more time.

I would suggest to bring this to the notice of the Information Commissioners Office

Dear kcl - legal-compliance,

Thank you for your reply and your apology. I shall consider your reply in detail soon but having skimmed through it , it seems to have answered most of my queries.

It would have been great if you could have given a brief reason for the delay as the whole process started in DECEMBER 2013 and we are now in March 2014

Regardless, thank you for your reply .

Yours sincerely,

Ms Sharma

Dear kcl - legal-compliance,

Also I would like to thank you for your total honesty. It is really appreciated .

Yours sincerely,

Ms Sharma
