Medical/Staff Responders
Dear Scottish Ambulance Service,
Does SAS make use of “Staff Responders” (similar to SCAS) or “Medical First Responders” (as used in EMAS), whereby staff are paid to respond to emergency incidents from home on an “on call” basis?
If so, is this restricted to role or can any clinical staff member apply to do this?
Are such responders, where they exist, permitted to use blue lights/associated exemptions in responding to calls?
Where such responders exist, do they respond in private vehicles or in trust vehicles?
Yours faithfully,
Mr Evans
