The request was successful.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

I would be grateful if you could provide (in respect of initial training received):

1) a curriculum or training plan in respect of the training provided to Healthcare Professionals undertaking assessments in respect of Personal Independence Payment claims

2) In what way has this training altered since 2013 (a copy of a curriculum/ training plan from, say, 2015 would suffice)

3) By what method is the training updated in line with experience and changes to caselaw

4) Provide a copy of all the materials used to deliver the training including an example of a written assessment of medical knowledge if this is part of the training process

If the cost of providing 3) is prohibitive a representative sample could be provided as long as it includes any materials regarding issues concerning reliability under regulation 4(2A) of the PIP regulations 2013 and the assessment of memory

Yours faithfully,

Michael Robinson

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,
Regarding my previous request in connection with medical services training made today 06/08/19 please note an error in the following paragraph. Reference potential restrictions to the scope (if cost implications) relates to point 3) refers to point 4) as stated

Yours faithfully,

Michael Robinson

Dear DWP freedom-of-information-requests,
Re : Your Ref : FOI2019/29431

Thank you for your informative reply under the above reference.

I observe from your e-mail that the primary document used in teaching is the Assessment Guide. Whereas I note this the outline you give of the nature of the training suggests that there would be additional materials used even if these are repackaged versions of the original. It would be expected, for instance, that particular exercises might be undertaken by participants.

My original FOI request did request a copy of all the materials used to deliver the training including an example of a written assessment of medical knowledge if this is part of the training process. In recognition that the cost of providing such might be prohibitive, it was requested that a representative sample could be provided as long as it includes any materials regarding issues concerning reliability under regulation 4(2A) of the PIP regulations 2013 and the assessment of memory

I also requested details of how the training has changed since 2013. Can I assume from this that the training has not altered since then?

Yours sincerely,

Mike Robinson
