Dear Br-Freedom-Of-Information,

Thank you for your response.

For the avoidance of doubt, could you clarify the University of Nottingham does not provide any separate medical learning outcomes to its students. Other than those listed on the website previously provided.

These may be, but are not limited to, specific learning outcomes relating to anatomy; 'Describe the nerve supply to the face'.

If the university does provide these, I would appreciate them being provided under the FOIA.

If not, then thank you for your confirmation.

Yours sincerely,

Ben Evans

Br-Freedom-Of-Information, University of Nottingham

Dear Ben

I am writing further to your query following our response regarding learning outcomes for medical students.

We have concluded that any additional information which is not available on our website is exempt under section 43(2) Commercial Interests as this is commercially sensitive information about our curriculum and disclosure would be likely to prejudice the commercial interests of the University.

We believe that the learning outcomes given already form the basis of our curriculum and include the outcomes required by the General Medical Council for graduation in medicine. More specific information about individual sessions or aspects of the course would give detailed information about the design of our individual curriculum which is commercially sensitive within a competitive environment.

In considering this exemption, we have applied the public interest test and have concluded that there is a strong public interest in non-disclosure of this information. We believe that it is in the public interest that universities can compete fairly and have concluded that this exemption is upheld and we shall not be disclosing the further information you have requested.

Therefore, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000, this email acts as a Refusal Notice for the specific information you have requested.

I hope that this is of help. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any enquiries regarding this email.

Yours sincerely,
Karen Page

Dear University of Nottingham,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of University of Nottingham's handling of my FOI request 'Medical School Learning Outcomes'.

As a number of similar requests have been submitted and have been actioned and the information published. I do not believe the University has correctly handled my request. I will be passing this on to the information commissioner, but as is correct procedure I wish to request an internal review.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/m...

Yours faithfully,

Dear Br-Freedom-Of-Information,

Liverpool have undertaken an internal review and have published the exact information I requested.
They originally rejected the request under Section 43 or trade secret rules. However their internal reviewer agrees that this information does not fall under that category and instead should be published.

You may wish to view a link to the documents released as it shows the information exactly that I wish to access.

If you are currently undertaking an internal review of this matter, please pass this information to the reviewer as I am sure it will be helpful to their process.
