Dear Norfolk County Council,

Please provide me with the Medical Needs Educational procedures and policy for provision as set out for 2017-2018 and 2018-2019. This would include children up to age 16 and young people between 16 to 18.

This should include the agreed policies with alternative providers commissioned by the LA and the policy that the medical needs officer enforces.

Yours faithfully,

Dear Catherine Grummitt

Freedom of Information Act 2000 –Information Request ENQ-268199-J0B7J7

I refer to your request for information dated 18 August 2018.

You asked: Please provide me with the Medical Needs Educational procedures
and policy for provision as set out for 2017-2018 and 2018-2019. This
would include children up to age 16 and young people between 16 to 18.

This should include the agreed policies with alternative providers
commissioned by the LA and the policy that the medical needs officer
enforces.

Our current medical needs statement is available on the Norfolk local
offer website under the following link:
[1]https://www.norfolk.gov.uk/children-and-...

In relation to historical documents, attached are both the previous
medical needs statement and the guidance produced by the Short Stay School
for Norfolk relating to medical needs.

The medical needs service normally provides support for pupils who are
between the ages of 5 and 16 (Reception Year to Year 11). For post-16
students attending mainstream provision, Norfolk County Council would look
to the host school, college or training provider to make any necessary
reasonable adjustments for students who are unwell over a prolonged
period. For students that are NEET (i.e. not in education, employment or
training) they are able to access guidance advisers to support them to
reengage. For students that have EHCPs, they are also able to contact
their EHCP Coordinator to support access to education.

If you are dissatisfied with our handling of your request you have the
right of appeal through the Council’s internal review procedure by setting
out the grounds of your appeal in writing to:
