Dear Ms Costa,
Your request was received on 19 April 2023 and I am dealing with it under the terms of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 (‘the Act’).
You asked:
I was wondering if you could supply me with some statistics regarding deferred entries for
undergraduate medicine, over the past 3 years (including entries from 2019).
1. the number of deferred entry medicine applicants there are each year
2. the percentage of these deferred entry medicine applicants are successful (for each college)
3. the BMAT scores and UMS averages of these successful candidates.
4. the number of candidates that after having been offered a place, ask to defer an entry
5. the number of successful offers that are deferred

4-5. This information is not held. This aspect of the processes for entry to undergraduate degree
courses at the University is managed locally by each of the individual Colleges, each of which is a
separate legal entity and public authority under the Act.
If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your request and wish to make a
complaint or request an internal review of this decision, you should contact us quoting the reference
number above. The University would normally expect to receive your request for an internal review
within 40 working days of the date of this letter and reserves the right not to review a decision where
there has been undue delay in raising a complaint. If you are not content with the outcome of your
review, you may apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. Generally, the
Information Commissioner cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the complaints
