Freedom Of Info, Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council

NOT PROTECTIVELY MARKED

Dear Mr Loader

Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000

In response to your request for information received at this office on
2^nd January 2018, please see the councils response below.

You requested:

Which newspapers, magazines, journals & online subscriptions did the
organisation procure or receive free during the year 16/17?

Under section 1(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, any person
making a request for information to a public authority is entitled to be
informed in writing by the public authority whether it holds information
of the description specified in the request, and if that is the case, to
have that information communicated to him.

A definitive list of subscriptions for newspapers, magazines, journals and
online subscriptions are not held within any of the Authority systems in
such a way as to be individually identified without further analysis and
creating new information. The Freedom of Information Act does not require
us to create documents, nor to manipulate data to create new information;
therefore the requested information is not held. Additionally free
publications are not recorded centrally and could be subscribed by any
individual within the council.

However, under our duty to assist applicants, I can provide you with
publications and online resources which the Council has via its Library
and Museums service. These are published online at;
[1]http://www.boltonlams.co.uk/

By following the link to the [2]Libraries section and then scrolling down
the page to the Finding Information box you can then navigate to;

[3]Newspaper and Periodicals which in turn will take you to the [4]Bolton
Central Library Holding List, and  also the [5]Online Information
Resources which provides the online/digital resources available.

Should you have any queries, please contact [6][email address]

Yours sincerely

Mark Allen
