Dear Intellectual Property Office,

Can you send me

(2) Any social media or media guidance you have relating to the way that the IPO explain the nature of intellectual property infringements, to reflect the complexity of the potential criminal offences and civil wrongs.

foi, Intellectual Property Office

Dear Mr Killock,

I refer to your email of 27 October 2017 in which you asked for the following information:

“(1) For the period 2015-17, any correspondence or social media complaints that you have logged relating to statements that IP or copyright infringements are a "crime" or failing to acknowledge the existence of civil and criminal offences, and your response to any such complaints;
(2) Any social media or media guidance you have relating to the way that the IPO explain the nature of intellectual property infringements, to reflect the complexity of the potential criminal offences and civil wrongs.”

In reply to your first request, there were two recent Tweets posted by the Intellectual Property Office of which you are already aware and which contained erroneous information which has since been corrected.

The only other correspondence that falls within the scope of your request is the response made by the IPO to two FOI requests which referred to section 297 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. Both are published on the WhatDoTheyKnow website at: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/k... and https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/i... .

In reply to your second the IPO has not produced any social media or media guidance within the scope of your request.

Please let me know if you require any further information or explanation.
