MBA Information
Dear Loughborough University,
I am currently looking at studying an MBA however with so much choice within the market I would like to know some more background and operational information which is not available on all the Universities website I have looked at.
I would like to know the following information
1. Total MBA Budget per year, per course e.g. full time/part-time/flexible/executive
1.1 If possible how much of this is spent on teaching, overseas trips and scholarships.
2. The number of none academic staff that support the above courses e.g. recruitment staff/administration staff/ operational staff. Can this information be provided with if they are full time, part time etc, and the type of contact and job title
3. The number of academic staff that teach on the programme with the following information a) number of female and males, the number that have PhD's, the number that have practical non academic experience in business.
4. The size of the last two years MBA student body (number of students on each course)
5. The number of different nationalities within the student body over the last two years.
6. The female to male ratio for students in the last two years.
If calcification is required please let me know. I look forward to hearing from you
Yours faithfully,
Katie Kidd

Dear Ms Kidd
In response to your Freedom of Information request dated 28 August 2018,
please find below information relating to your enquiry. Please accept my
apologies for the delay in responding at what is an exceptionally busy
time of year for the Academic Registry.
1. Total MBA Budget per year, per course e.g. full
time/part-time/flexible/executive
1.1 If possible how much of this is spent on teaching, overseas trips and
scholarships.
The University produces budgets for each School but this is not broken
down by programme; we are therefore unable to provide the information
requested since it is not held. With regard to scholarships, there is a
clearly defined criteria for their award to potential MBA students; if
students meet the criteria they are automatically offered an award; this
is not dependent on budgets.
2. The number of none academic staff that support the above courses e.g.
recruitment staff/administration staff/ operational staff. Can this
information be provided with if they are full time, part time etc, and the
type of contact and job title
Students on MBA programmes are supported by a variety of non-academic
staff both within the School and in central University teams. The majority
of these staff support a variety of students on a number of different
programmes. Within the School we have postgraduate programmes
administration and admissions teams with four staff working solely with
MBA students, supported by a wider team. MBA students also have access to
a dedicated School Careers Consultant.
3. The number of academic staff that teach on the programme with the
following information a) number of female and males, the number that have
PhD's, the number that have practical non academic experience in business.
Teaching on the MBA Programme is delivered primarily by academic staff
within the School of Business and Economics. These staff may teach across
the full range of programmes offered by the School and not exclusively on
the MBA; Individuals involved with the MBA may change from year to year,
however, as an example, data from the academic year 2017-18 is presented
below.
Director of MBA Programmes Female
Total No of staff teaching on the programme 27
No of
females 9
No of
males 18
No of teaching staff with PhDs 23
No of teaching staff with practical experience 18
4. The size of the last two years MBA student body (number of students on
each course)
5. The number of different nationalities within the student body over the
last two years.
6. The female to male ratio for students in the last two years.
Since registration for 2018/19 is ongoing, I have provided data for the
2016/17 and 2017/18 intakes.
+------------------------------------------------------------------------+
|Intake |Number of Students |Number of Nationalities |% Female |%Male |
|---------+--------------------+------------------------+---------+------|
|2016/17 |61 |19 |43% |57% |
|---------+--------------------+------------------------+---------+------|
|2017/18 |49 |15 |47% |53% |
+------------------------------------------------------------------------+
