Maureen Dixon Berne former Head of Northumbria Police Communications - Martin McGartland
Dear Northumbria Police,
It is reported in the press that; "Maureen Dixon Berne former Head of Communications at Northumbria Police told a tribunal she was expected to "kill" the story about an alleged affair between two high ranking officers.
Maureen Berne said she was not convinced that nothing at all had happened former Chief Constable Mike Craik and assistant Chief Constable Carolyn Peacock." ......
"Ms Berne told the tribunal how she was told to advise the media about defamation and how she was "forced out" of Northumbria Police in 2015.
Indeed the whole situation was completed within nine days which gave me and my family little time to consider all the legal options.
The situation...caused me and my family a significant amount of stress which we are still dealing with today." http://www.itv.com/news/tyne-tees/2016-0...
My question is: Why was Maureen Dixon Berne the former Head of Communications at Northumbria Police "forced out" of Northumbria Police in 2015?
Yours faithfully,
Martin McGartland
ITV News Story in Full:
Northumbria Police employee asked to 'kill' affair story (Between former Chief Constable Mike Craik and assistant Chief Constable Carolyn Peacock)
The former Head of Communications at Northumbria Police told a tribunal she was expected to "kill" the story about an alleged affair between two high ranking officers.
Maureen Berne said she was not convinced that nothing at all had happened former Chief Constable Mike Craik and assistant Chief Constable Carolyn Peacock.
Mrs Berne was speaking at an employment tribunal brought by the former head of legal services at the force Denise Aubrey.
Ms Aubrey, 54, was sacked for gross misconduct in 2014 after she allegedly disclosed information about the affair between the two high ranking officers.
She has denied this and instead taken the force to a tribunal, accusing her former bosses of "unfair dismissal following a protected disclosure, sex discrimination, disability discrimination, victimisation and harassment".
Ms Berne said she was called to a meeting with Mr Craik and Ms Aubrey where the former Chief Constable explained how the rumours were false.
She told the employment tribunal at North Shields, North Tyneside: "I was told to try and kill the story with the media.
"Given the extent of the rumours circulating in the force I was personally not convinced that nothing at all had happened as Mr Craik asserted but I followed the instructions given to me by him."
Ms Berne told the tribunal how she was told to advise the media about defamation and how she was "forced out" of Northumbria Police in 2015.
"Indeed the whole situation was completed within nine days which gave me and my family little time to consider all the legal options."
"The situation...caused me and my family a significant amount of stress which we are still dealing with today."

You should consider this to be a refusal under section 17 of the Act.
No inference can be taken from this refusal that the information you have

of what information could be supplied (within cost) by another. Systems
used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures
used locally in capturing the data. For this reason responses between
forces may differ, and should not be used for comparative purposes.

Northumbria Police (NP) malicious / false ‘vexatious’ claims (their Lies) are nothing new. NP have been using and abusing same by to cover up their gross misconduct – and misfeasance in public office by their Bent officers who are (and were) involved in the Martin McGartland's cases. They having been lying about ‘vexatious’ for more than 7 years, see ICO 2011 decision notice in which they found that request was NOT ‘vexatious’,
https://ico.org.uk/media/action-weve-tak...
NP, Winton Keenen will say (and do) anything to cover up their corruption in the Martin McGartland cases.
