exempt or we require additional time to consider whether disclosure is in
the public interest in accordance with section 2 of the Freedom of

The Act defines a number of exemptions which may prevent release of the
information you have requested. Before we provide the information we will
consider whether it is proper to release it and if any of the exemption
categories do apply then the information will not be released. We will
tell you if this is the case, and you will have a right of appeal.

 

If the information you request contains reference to a third party then
they may be consulted prior to a decision being taken on whether or not to
release the information to you. We will tell you if this is the case.

your request, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I

1. Do you accept mattresses at the majority/all your HWRCs?

 

Yes

 

2. If yes, what is the charge in £ per mattress?

 

BCBC don’t charge residents for this.

 

3. How are most of the mattress materials and components disposed of from
HWRCs?

Sent for recycling (i.e., separated into component parts)

 

4. Do you offer a collection service for mattresses? Please answer yes or
no.

 

Yes

 

5. If yes, what is the charge in £ per mattress?

 

Charged as part of the bulky waste service - £25 for up to 3 items, £6.15
per additional item.

 

6. If yes, how are most of the mattress materials and components disposed
of from collections? Please select one option:

 

Sent for recycling (i.e., separated into component parts)

 

7.  Does your authority have plans to revise how mattresses are disposed
of in the next 12 months? Please answer yes or no.

Yes – signpost charities.
