Thank you for your requests for information under the Environmental
Information Regulations (2004), which were received by both South
Oxfordshire District Council (logged under 23/605 SOUTH) and Vale of White
Horse District Council (logged under 23/501 VALE). Please note that the
two councils operate as a shared service hence this joint response.
Under Part 2 Regulation 5 of the Environmental Information Regulations
2004, you are entitled to information which is in the authority’s
possession or is held by another person on behalf of the authority unless
any exceptions apply (Part 3 Regulation 12). I have considered your
request and can confirm we do hold some of the information asked and I do
not believe any of the statutory exemptions apply to your request. Please
find below the information you requested (where available):

Questions 1 -3 : The HWRC’s in our districts are owned and run by
Oxfordshire County Council so we do not have this information.
4. Do you offer a collection service for mattresses? Please answer yes or
no. Yes, mattresses are included as items eligible for our bulky waste
collection service.
5. If yes, what is the charge in £ per mattress? The bulky waste
collection service is £49.50 for up to three items and then £9.50 per
additional item (Six items maximum per collection booking)
6. If yes, how are most of the mattress materials and components disposed
of from collections? Please select one option:
a) Sent for recycling (i.e., separated into component parts)
b) Sent for landfill
c) Sent for incineration for energy recovery
7. Does your authority have plans to revise how mattresses are disposed
of in the next 12 months? Please answer yes or no.

Questions 6 – 8: We do not hold this information as we are a Waste
Collection Authority, the responsibility for the disposal of mattresses
falls with our Waste Disposal Authority, Oxfordshire County Council.
