Dear FOI,

Thank you for the information.

Can you please clarify the information headed "STEP Result Achieved During the Admissions Round" are the STEP results already achieved before the applicant applied?

And which table contains the applicants' offer STEP conditions, and subsequent STEP grades?

For example, I'm trying to identify how often an applicant with good STEP grades already in hand is asked to resit STEP.

Also can you provide the tables as excel files.

Yours sincerely,

David Dinsmore

Dear Mr Dinsmore,

Further to the below, and with apologies for the slight delay, we can now confirm that the "STEP Result Achieved During the Admissions Round" heading on the "Application" tab only includes STEP results achieved during the admissions round in which the application was received (i.e. results shown for 2017 apply year applicants would have been from STEP exams sat in June 2017). STEP results already achieved before the applicant applied are listed in the "STEP at Application" tab. Applicants are linked through both tabs via the "ApplyID" (e.g. applicant 100001 received an offer in the 2015 apply year having taken STEP exams in 2013 and 2014).

STEP offer conditions were not included in the data as to generate it would have exceeded the appropriate limit. We apologise that this section 12(1) exemption was not explained at the point of the original response. However, an offer-holder achieving a STEP result during the admissions round is a good (if not 100%) indication that a STEP condition was set as part of the offer.
