Maternity Unit level data on multiple pregnancies

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust,

Twins Trust is undertaking a national multiple pregnancy bench-marking exercise. As part of this, I would like to request information relating to the multiple pregnancies cared for at City Hospital and Sandwell District General Hospital maternity units.

The unit level data requested is for the following categories:
- Number of Multiple Birth Pregnancies (e.g. twins, triplets, quads +)
- Number of Foetuses delivered from a Multiple Birth
- Multiple Birth Still Births (number of babies)
- Multiple Birth pregnancies resulting in an Emergency C-Sections
- Multiple Birth Neonatal Deaths (number of babies)
- Multiple Birth Neonatal Admissions (number of babies admitted to a neonatal unit for their care) For each of the following years 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Please also confirm if current antenatal care for multiple pregnancies (in 2020 and going forward) is delivered by a "a core team of named specialist obstetricians, specialist midwives and sonographers, all of whom have experience and knowledge of managing twin and triplet pregnancies" in accordance with NICE guideline NG137.

Finally, how many perinatal mortality reviews involving multiple births have been conducted since 2018 and what changes have been made as a result of them?

As background for your team, we have a quality improvement team who work with maternity teams across the UK caring for multiple birth families https://twinstrust.org/healthcare-profes... and have a wide range of classes, resources and services to support multiple birth families https://twinstrust.org/let-us-help.html

With thanks to your whole team for all they do for our families and if we can be of any assistance please do let us know.

Yours faithfully,

Keith Reed

Act, subject to the information not being exempt or containing a reference

deadline. If this is likely you will be informed and given a revised
timescale at the earliest opportunity.

In some cases there may be a fee payable for the retrieval, collation and
provision of the information you request. If this is the case you will be
informed and the 20 working day timescale will be suspended until we
receive payment from you. If you choose not to make payment then your
request will remain unanswered.

Some requests may also require either full or partial transference to
another public authority in order to answer your query in the fullest
possible way. Again, you will be informed if this is the case.

Your request for information may be delayed due to urgent operational
responses to dealing with Public Health priorities.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, we do remain committed

Please could you confirm whether you still wish to have this processed as
an FOI request, in light of the already burdensome situation on the NHS?

Subject: FOI Request

Hi my name is Karena and I am the administrator for Join Dementia Research
with the NIHR Clinical Research Network

Could you please advise me of the number of clients that you have provided
a service or who are still receiving a service by your Trust who have a
diagnosis of dementia during the years of 2018/19 and 2019/20.

Does your trust record such information on clients medical notes? if yes
then would it possible to have these please. I will be very happy  to
discuss this request if required.

Looking forward to hearing from you

Best wishes

Karena

Dear SWBH-GM-FOIREQUESTS (SANDWELL AND WEST BIRMINGHAM HOSPITALS NHS TRUST),

Thank you for your follow up message. I would like to proceed with this request.

To confirm I have deleted all correspondence sent to me regarding an FOI by someone else. These things happen.

Yours sincerely,

Keith Reed

Dear Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust's handling of my FOI request 'Maternity Unit level data on multiple pregnancies'.

From previous correspondence referencing someone else and a different topic and the long delay, I am concerned that my request may have been mixed up with someone else's or has been lost in the system.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/m...

Yours faithfully,

Keith Reed

Dear Keith,

Freedom of Information Request ref: F20/0152

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request which was received on
21.08.2020 by the Trust.

With sincere apologies for the delay in providing a response to your
Freedom of Information request.

Given a transition in system management and administration of the Freedom
of Information requests your response has been delayed.

I would be grateful if you could confirm within the next 5 days if you
still require this information by return e-mail. I can then ensure this is
progressed as soon as possible.

Trust's across the country have refocused resources to assist frontline
staff to combat Covid-19 during this difficult period. I would therefore
also be grateful if you could advise if, given our delay, the information
is now not required.

Our sincere thanks for your patience with this matter.
