Maternity Allowance Policy - Paid Leave

Dear Department for Business, Innovation and Skills

I am submitting a request under section 16(1) of the Freedom of Information Act (i.e. a duty to
provide advice and assistance).

Please would you provide clarification on the following pertaining to the Maternity Allowance policy:

In the 26 week "test period", do weeks in which the worker takes paid leave, but does not physically work hours, count towards the qualifying total?

This is, of course, assuming a pay slip is generated reflecting income (i.e. paid leave) for that week.

Yours faithfully,

Alfie Grindrod
