Marketing, research and communications

We're waiting for Dr Emma L Briant to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

I’m writing under the FOI Act to request information about whether the BBC ever hired SCL/Strategic Communication Laboratories (between 2007 and 2018) or Cambridge Analytica or AIQ (Aggregate IQ) (2014-2018) to undertake any research, or any work related to marketing or communications please. If any work is found please could I ask names of individuals involved and see any related contracts, reports or other documents and correspondence. Many thanks for your assistance.

Yours faithfully,

Dr Briant

Dear FOI Enquiries,

Thank you for your reply, however you have misunderstood or misread my request I believe. I’m writing therefore to request you reconsider the request as I am not seeking any information ‘held for
the purposes of ‘journalism, art or literature.’’ I am seeking details relating to the BBC’s marketing, market research, branding and outsourcing of the same. Essentially, this relates to how you sell your product - not the product itself it therefore cannot fall within journalism art or literature. I look forward to your swift reply and the requested information and appreciate your time in retrieving it.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Emma L Briant
