The request was successful.

Dear Perth and Kinross Council,

It has been reported ex Towie star Mark Wright was paid £7,000 for switching on the Christmas tree lights in Perth.

However, I would like to know if there was other costs involved in his appearance over and above the £7,000?

1) Who paid for the cost of the hotel and if it was the council then please state how much?

2) Who paid for his travel? If it was the council then please state how much?

3) Was an agency fee paid above and beyond the reported £7,000 and if so how much were they paid and who are they?

4) What was all the associated costs for hiring Mark Wright? Hourly costs of your officers, telephone costs, etc. Please account for ALL associated costs.

5) How did this arrangement come about to hire Mark Wright? .... as I'm sure this idea just wasn't plucked out of thin air. Details please?

Yours faithfully,

Pamela Stoneman

The Events Officer and the City Centre Manager identified Mark Wright to
switch on the lights as he would appeal to a target demographic of 16-35
year olds. Research commissioned by the City Centre Manager from
Scotpulse,  has shown that only 13% of the current shoppers within Perth
are within the 16 – 35 age bracket. This research also showed that over
60% of shoppers come from outwith Perth. It was felt that the light switch
on would be an opportunity to showcase the City and its businesses to this
target demographic and to put on an event that would attract visitors from
outside the area with a programme that would be competitive with the
offerings from other towns and cities.

Information about the campaign was made available as part of the Winter
Festival Programme. This information was also shared with the City Centre
Councillors at a meeting chaired by the Depute Director of the Environment
Service and the Provost on the 26th September 2013.
