Management of Buckthorn at Seacroft, Skegness
Dear Natural England,
I’m an A-level student from Boston High School and currently planning my geography fieldwork and I am interested in investigating the management of sand dunes at Seacroft. My investigation title is "To what extent has the management scheme in Seacroft, Skegness restored and maintained the dunes", and I will be recording data along a 20m transect therefore it would be really helpful for me to find out the following:
1)How often is the removal of buckthorn taking place over the 10 year period.
2)What areas in particular are being managed, and is the removal occuring in the foredunes, dune scrub or woodland
3)What evidence is there so far that it has been successful, and is there methods apart from measuring vegetation cover, which would best be able to assess this
4)What negative affects (such as damange or disruption) will the removal of invasive buckthorn cause.
I would be very greatful if you were able to get back to me with information relevant to my studies, or recomend someone who I should speak to that is directly linked to/responible for the management scheme.
Yours faithfully,
Brodie Anderson
