Managed migration - couples and nil awards
Dear Department for Work and Pensions,
1. According to recent guidance released by DWP, couples are not currently being migrated to UC.
Please can you provide any information held by the Department relating to the rationale behind this deferral, and what the planned timescale is for including such claimants in the managed migration programme.
2. According to the same guidance, tax credit claimants on nil awards are excluded from the managed migration programme.
Please provide any information held by the Department relating to this exclusion. In particular, I am interested in how the Department intends to migrate such claimants to UC.
Yours faithfully,
Charles Ellinson

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Work and Pensions's handling of my FOI request 'Managed migration - couples and nil awards'.
I requested information regarding the migration of claimants who have a nil award of tax credits to Universal Credit. I received a response stating that such claimants will not be "managed migrated".
Perhaps my query wasn't clear enough, but my intended question was for information relating to how the tax credits claims of such claimants will be terminated as part of the migration process to UC. This will have to be done at some point, as the intention is for the tax credits system to be completely shut from 2025.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Work and Pensions's handling of my FOI request 'Managed migration - couples and nil awards'.
Unfortunately, in the latest response to my FOI request, DWP have continued to misunderstand my query.
To clarify again, my question is regarding those people who currently have a "nil award" of tax credits. DWP has confirmed that managed migration notices will not be issued to claimants in this situation. As such, some other mechanism will have to be used to terminate the tax credit awards of such claimants. This potentially would have to be done by 2025, as the intention is for the tax credits system to be closed down completely in that year.
Please can you release any information held by the Department regarding the plans for claimants in these circumstances.
