Dear Treasure Valuation Committee,

Please find below my FOI request regarding malicious emails sent to the department.

The date range for the requests is from 2018 to present day. The data shall include a breakdown by year and by individual departments (e.g. separate departments, agencies, or public bodies within the main government agency), if applicable.

1. How many malicious emails have been successfully blocked?
2. What percentage of malicious emails were opened by staff?
3. What percentage of malicious links in the emails were clicked on by staff?
4. How many ransomware attacks were blocked by the department?
5. How many ransomware attacks were successful?

Yours faithfully,
Rebecca Moody

Treasure, Treasure Valuation Committee

Thank you for your email. Ongoing restrictions in place to combat the
spread of COVID-19, and the fact that the majority of staff at the British
Museum working on cases of Treasure were furloughed over summer and autumn
of 2020 have meant that many aspects of the Treasure process will take
longer to complete. Thank you for your patience.

New discoveries of potential Treasure should still be reported and can be
done by emailing local Finds Liaison Officers with details of the find,
photographs of the object (s) and contact information for the finder and
landowner.

Best wishes,

British Museum Treasure Team
