Malfunction
9/3/15
Dear South Wales Police,
Please may I have this information. I would require it for the past
1 year,
1. How many body-worn-video (BWV) cameras do you have,
2. Have any malfunctioned. If yes - how many - what was reasons for
this,
3. Were any that malfunctioned the subject of complaints. Did any
malfunctions come to light as result of complaints. If they did -
how many - what was the reason for each BWV camera that had
malfunctioned,
4. Were any malfunctions due to video or sound not recording. Were
any of those subject misconduct complaints,
5, Number of times BWV cameras failed to record encounter, event
due to technical failure - malfunction. What was the reason in each
case,
5. What safeguards are in place so that police officers are not
able to manipulate - tamper with BWV footage - evidence when
allegations of misconduct have been made,
6. Has there been any allegations - complaints made that police
officers have tampered with - suppressed or destroyed BWV evidence.
I would like all information you hold on those,
7. When and how will BWV be released to the public - to those
requesting it after having an encounter with police. Can requests
be refused. If they can- what are the reasons for refusing,
9. Are there any examples of requests made for BWV using FOI -
subject access or DPA being refused because at that stage it became
known that audio - video or both had not recorded due to
malfunction. Can I have that information too.
10. How many requests - either by FOI - DPA - subject access were
made for BWV footage. How many were successful. How many were
unsuccessful. What reasons were given for unsuccessful requests.
Were any appealed to Information Commissioner - what was outcome. I
would like this information too.
Yours faithfully,
R Davison
