Maintenance Policy on Public Buildings

The request was successful.

Dear Scarborough Borough Council,

Please can you fully detail Scarborough Borough Council's policy of building maintenance towards the St. Nicholas Street Town Hall accommodation and the Futurist Theatre building since 2000.

At a recent public meeting Councillor Alf Abbott informed the assembled public and press that there has been a policy of willful neglect of the St. Nicholas Street Town Hall accommodation to build a case for the future disposal of the site. I would like to know the full facts of this policy, when it was first discussed and where this policy is documented on the SBC web site.

I would also like to know if there has been similar willful neglect of the Futurist Theatre building to build a case for future disposal too. Again, I would also like to know the full facts of this policy, when it was first discussed and where this policy is documented on the SBC web site.

Yours faithfully,
Tim Thorne

Dear Scarborough Borough Council,

Many thanks for the reply. I've read the report and there is no detail on both the Town Hall nor the Futurist buildings.

There is part of the document that shows tables on the classification of the condition and performance of buildings. How were the Town Hall and Futurist buildings classified using your 'Building Condition Classifications' and 'Building Performance Classifications' since the year 2000?

Yours faithfully,
Tim Thorne
