Dear Kent County Council,
Maidstone Grammar School in Barton Road Maidstone advised a few residents of Holtye Crescent Maidstone of plans for a 3G artificial floodlit sports pitch to be developed at the school. This pitch is immediately behind the houses of these residents. A meeting was held on 14 December at 1400 to discuss the plans. I would add that this was done at very short notice with only three or four residents being leaflet dropped. To expect people to attend a meeting in the middle of the day was unreasonable.
Residents of Holtye Crescent, Heather Drive, Barton Road, Beech Hurst Close and Loose Road are trying to obtain the meeting minutes from this date to have a record of what was discussed. So far these minutes have not been forthcoming. Several residents have requested these to the school via Denise Friend.
We have requested a further meeting with the school, which was promised prior to the submission of the planning application. Again, over one month from the original meeting our request has gone ignored.
We would like the following information released for our information:
1) Minutes of the meeting held on 14 December
2) Details of the funding for this project - including how much the facility is to cost and where the funds are coming from ( we believe this to be KCC from the meeting in December)
3) Confirmation that a meeting will be arranged prior to submission of the planning application.
Residents will be objecting to the plan. We should be given the greatest possible opportunity to express ourviews with clear and transparent information provided from the school and local education authority.
Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you.
