Mac books

Mr Brown made this Freedom of Information request to Cabinet Office

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Waiting for an internal review by Cabinet Office of their handling of this request.

Dear Cabinet Office,

I understand that cabinet off ice staff are able to choose between Mac laptops and a Windows alternative for their daily work laptop.

I would like to see the following:

1. All documents relating to the decision to purchase Macs - the statement of need, the value for money case, the business case. In short, all documents that were used to justify the significantly higher cost.

2. A copy of any analysis that the government did, comparing the suitabilty of Macs to similar, cheaper alternatives.

3. The (a) the one off cost for reequipping cabinet office staff wiwitapple equipment (including iPhones) when you changed over and (b) the total annual cost of new apple hardware for the last 5 years.

4. The number of cabinet office staff issued with a. MacBooks and b. iPhones.

Yours faithfully,

James Hirsch

Dear FOI Team Mailbox,

Have you considered the 'commercial interests' yet? You promised me a response by the end of September and this is now overdue.

Yours sincerely,

James Hirsch.

Dear Cabinet Office,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Cabinet Office's handling of my FOI request 'Mac books'. Despite the original communication, and the notice from yourself extending the timeline, I have still not heard back from you, despite you giving yourself more time to answer. Please conduct an immediate review to determine (a) what the answer to my original question and (b) the reason for this delay. I would like a precise explanation as to why your communication has been so poor in this matter.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/m...

Yours faithfully,

James Hirsch

Dear FOI Team Mailbox,

Thank you for your reply. There are, however, two problems:

1. The links you provide in section 1 do not link to anything. Please can you provide working links.

2. For question 3, you refer me to a page on gov.uk with many many months worth of data on it. Please be more specific in your response - in what month and which spreadsheet will I find the one-off cost of transfering staff onto apple equipment?

Best,

James Hirsch
